AIEF Students to attend TEDxSydney 2020
The Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) has been announced as the official charity partner for TEDxSydney 2020.
The TEDxSydney flagship event will be held on Friday, 22 May at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Sydney, and will feature a variety of innovative talks, performances, interactive experiences and audio-visual content.
The theme for TEDxSydney 2020 is ‘Real’, with content traversing a diverse range of topics including science, business, technology, art, design, culture and social justice.
TEDxSydney is offering a number of AIEF Scholarship Students the opportunity to attend the event free of charge through its ‘Pay It Forward’ initiative. The initiative allows conference registrants to donate money which funds general admission tickets for our students to attend the event. AIEF Scholarship Students will explore and connect with the theme ‘Real’ throughout a day of engaging and thought-provoking content.
AIEF is continuing to realise outstanding outcomes in Indigenous education in Australia. There are currently around 400 young Indigenous students attending school and university on an AIEF Scholarship and a cohort of over 600 AIEF Alumni. These young Indigenous leaders are making a real and lasting impact in their communities and are contributing to a generation of change in Australia.
Last year, Angeline, from Borroloola, NT, completed Year 12 at Loreto Normanhurst on an AIEF Scholarship.
“I’m only one of a few of my cousins who have had the opportunity to finish high school,” Angeline said. “It’s really changed the foundation of our family and has given us all a chance to really do something with our lives.”
Thanks to the ‘Pay It Forward’ initiative and the generosity of the TEDxSydney community, other young AIEF Scholarship Students, like Angeline, will be able to participate in the unique experience of TEDxSydney.
