AIEF recently held the Learn It! Live It! Work Readiness Workshop over two days in Brisbane for Year 11 and Year 12 students. The event was hosted by Perpetual at their Brisbane office, and over 80 students attended from Partner Schools in Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Cairns and Townsville.
The Year 11 workshop focused on developing students interpersonal skills, resilience and motivation, with sessions on culture and identity, emotional intelligence, strengths and values and a special presentation from guest speaker Fred Leone, guest curator at QPAC. The students then enjoyed an evening of ten pin bowling and laser tag.
Year 12 students attended sessions on financial literacy, interview techniques and public speaking, facilitated by major Corporate Partners Allens and AFL. AIEF Ambassador Stephanie Brantz and AIEF Alum Latiesha Dunbar led the Year 12 workshop, which closed with a panel discussion and Q&A with AIEF Alumni. This panel was a big success, with the Year 12 students asking thoughtful questions and the alumni sharing their experiences of the transition into further study and employment.
