As National Chairman, Martin is responsible for holding the firm to the highest professional standards of governance, quality and integrity and the overall strategic positioning of the firm. He represents the Australian firm across KPMG’s global network serving as a member of KPMG’s Global and ASPAC boards.
Prior to being elected as the firm’s National Chairman in 2023, Martin held a variety of management and client facing roles with the firm. He was a member of the National Executive Committee, first as the National Managing Partner of Brand & Innovation and later as the National Managing Partner of Client Growth & Markets.
Martin has worked across the firm’s audit, transaction services and advisory practices, leading some of the firm’s largest local and global clients including BHP, Orica, Qantas, and Wesfarmers. Martin has advised on several prominent and complex market transactions.
Martin also has listed company executive experience, serving as the CEO and Managing Director of Spotless from November 2015 to August 2017. At Spotless he managed a $3 billion turnover and 36,000 employees, giving him a deep insight into the experiences faced by KPMG’s clients.
Martin is passionate about sustainable growth, harnessing the potential of technology and innovation, strategy development and building executive capability. He is a fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and holds a Bachelor of Economics, Accounting and Finance from the Australian National University.
