Perth College 2023 Report
Clare Johansen

Perth College is a Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican all-girls School in Perth, Western Australia.  At Perth College, we are committed to our role in the collective journey towards reconciliation.  We strive to actively respect, value and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures whilst creating a strong sense of belonging and cultural identity within our community by engaging in inclusive practices and diverse relationships.

The Perth College Indigenous program includes 35 students in 2023, known as the Djook Djinda Group or Sister Stars, comprising of day and boarding students in Years 7 to 12.  The students are supported and educated via pathways to attain formally recognised qualifications when they graduate from school.

Perth College continues to provide increasing opportunities for all Perth College students, staff and families to access and celebrate Indigenous culture and acknowledge Indigenous history.  These aims have been facilitated through the inclusion of Indigenous perspectives into the teaching and learning curriculum.

Every year, Perth College marks PC NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week.  The Djook Djinda Group plays a significant role in organising a range of activities during these events.  The group meets regularly at their designated venue, the Ngala Maya room, to discuss and plan their participation in these celebrations.  The room also serves as an inclusive space for these students at the school.
