The AIEF Tertiary Experience Day provides students with contact points at universities and colleges and insights into the university experience. Students are given information about accommodation options and the chance to see what independent living is like.

On 21 August 2013, students met college staff from universities and colleges in Queensland, including The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University, who will now be familiar faces when the students apply for scholarship places in the coming weeks. Students also visited the Indigenous units at the universities so they could get a better understanding of the Indigenous support systems on campus. The tour also included several residential colleges: Kelvin Grove Urban Village; Emmanuel College; King’s College; St Leo’s College; and Women’s College.

18 students from St Peters Lutheran College, St Joseph’s Nudgee College, Marist College Ashgrove and St Saviours College, Toowoomba attended the day.

The students said the visit was a valuable experience which would help them determine their post-school plans. One student remarked; “it gave me so many ideas of what university is like”.
