In August 2011, AIEF Board Member Rob Coombe invited two Indigenous students from St Vincents College, Potts Point, to the offices of Westpac Bank for a boardroom luncheon. Rob, Group Executive Retail and Business Banking at Westpac was joined by senior colleagues including the banks CEO Gail Kelly who dropped in to meet the students. Over the lunch, the students had a chance to ask questions about banking and the stock market and learned all about the career options available in the finance sector.
Food for Thought is a series of boardroom luncheons bringing Indigenous students together with CEOs and senior managers of AIEFs corporate partners to build their networking skills. It is part of the AIEF Post-School Pathways Program, which offers a wide range of work-readiness activities and support to help students transition from school into further study and careers. The aim of the program is to inform them about career options and provide one-on-one support to develop and achieve their career goals.
