On 15 and 20 March 2015 AIEF Alumni from QLD and NSW attended the Alumni Connect events in Brisbane and Sydney.
Alumni joined members of the AIEF Transition Support Team for lunch in Sydney and dinner in Brisbane, and then cheered on their teams at NRL games at ANZ Stadium in Sydney (where one AIEF Alum ran onto the field as a member of the Sydney Roosters U20 Holden Cup squad) and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The events attracted 37 Alumni including university students undertaking degrees in business, nursing, education and law, apprentice carpenters and an Army recruit. The group enjoyed catching up and older alumni advised recent Year 12 graduates on a range of issues, from successfully managing a university study schedule to adjusting to new workplaces. One of the Alumni remarked that I always enjoy these events because we rarely all come together as we did and its nice to keep in contact with AIEF, that is the best thing about this program while another said “I enjoyed getting to know some of the new alumni, and getting to reconnect with people from my own graduating class!”.
