On 19 August 2015 14 students from Years 10, 11 and 12, including AIEF-BHP Billiton Scholarship Students, participated in the Learn it, Live it! (work readiness workshop) at the Mercure Perth.
The workshop focused on developing students interpersonal skills, resilience and motivation, with sessions covering culture and identity (presented by Qantas and an AIEF Alum); emotional intelligence; and strengths and values (presented by Directioneering). Students also heard from guest speaker Phil Narkle, former St Kilda and West Coast Eagles AFL player and current Indigenous Liaison Officer at the West Coast Eagles, who spoke about challenges he has faced and how he has achieved success, both in his career and personally.
