On 13 February, the ninth anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations, graduates Mitchell Heritage and Carlie Smart (a member of the AIEF Board) attended a reception for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals at Parliament House as guests of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. AIEF Executive Director Andrew Penfold and AIEF General Manager, Strategy and Policy, Renée Coffey also attended. Earlier that day, Mitchell and Carlie met with several members of Parliament, including the Hon Tanya Plibersek and Senator Arthur Sinodinos, and after the reception Mitchell was interviewed by Chris Kenny on Sky News.
On 10 February, Andrew Penfold and Renee Coffey attended a breakfast marking the anniversary of the National Apology and hear from guest speakers Michael McLeod and Therese Rein.
