AIEF held a graduation dinner on 29 October to celebrate the achievements of Year 12 graduates in Brisbane. 53 AIEF Scholarship Students from AIEF Partner Schools in Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Cairns and Townsville attended alongside teachers, mentors, AIEFs Transition Support Team and representatives from AIEF Corporate Partners.
The dinner was a great opportunity to celebrate the students hard work in completing secondary school and to look ahead to the future as they go on to pursue further education or careers. Jayden from St Augustines College in Cairns spoke about his journey at boarding school, and the group were privileged to hear from Dr Colin Dillon, Chairman of the Brisbane Indigenous Media Association, former ATSIC Commissioner and Director for Aboriginal Hostels Limited and recipient of the Australian Police Medal during his 36 year career with Queensland Police Service.
